You’d be surprised at the power of group therapy
Relationships can be tough. No matter how much you love your spouse, partner, kids, mom, dad, siblings, they can pin your stress meter to MAX. Add to that a bad day with the boss or staff, tight deadlines, unreasonable clients, a mortgage, car payments and tuition, and your volcano is about to blow. Group therapy can help.
That’s why I’m offering the Life and Work Group. It’s group counseling for people like you with active lives and careers who want to be more satisfied and effective, both at home and at work. It’s about relationships and communication. It’s about getting your needs met in your work or volunteer life and at home with the people you love the most.
So, what are those needs? How about respect, reward, impact and emotional connection? Isn’t that what you’re looking for? Have you ever gotten enough of that in your life or at your job? And if you had those things, wouldn’t you be more effective and successful?
According to my favorite business expert, Morrie Shechtman, business leaders in this information age have to make personal connections. He says, “You have to be able to … inspire and motivate people on a deeply personal level. The two most critical skills in today’s world are making good decisions and building strong relationships.”
So what’s wrong with your relationships? Let’s find out. Join the group and learn more about your impact on people. Learn to trust and be trusted, to listen deeply and be heard accurately. Not only will you become more self-aware. Not only will you improve your communication and leadership skills.
An experience like that can go a long way toward healing old wounds, old dysfunctional patterns that are limiting your success.
Morrie says: “We all tend to repeat the same patterns over and over. That’s because we are all subject to our familiars, which are strong and persistent collections of attitudes rooted in childhood that cause us to act in certain predictable ways. It’s very difficult to change your leadership patterns if you don’t understand this basic truth.”
So come on in and work the problem. Meet people like you with a lot on the line. Become the mom, dad, partner, boss, employee you want to be. Be the leader you know you can be at work and at home.
- Meets: Tuesdays 6:30-8 p.m.
- Cost: $25 / week
